Mississippi River cuts through the Central Plains as it flows to the Gulf of Mexico. Farmers and merchants used the Mississippi to transport goods.

 

 

 

 

 

Great and Central Plains are boxed in by two mountain ranges:

The Appalachian Mountains in the east and the Rocky Mountains in the west.

The United States has a unique cultural and ethnic mix due to several waves of immigration. Many different languages are spoken and religions are practiced.
