States is located in the Northern and Western hemisphere on the continent of
North America.

west.
Physical Characteristics:
The U.S. has a variety of landforms:
Great Plains and Central Plains in the middle

Mississippi River cuts through the Central Plains as it flows to the Gulf of Mexico. Farmers and merchants used the Mississippi to transport goods.

Great and Central Plains are boxed in by two mountain
ranges:
The Appalachian Mountains in the east and
the Rocky Mountains in the west.


Human Characteristics:
The United States has a unique cultural and ethnic
mix due to several waves of immigration. Many different languages are spoken
and religions are practiced.
People in
the United States, generally speaking, have long life
expectancies, high per capital incomes, and high literacy rates.
