LESSONS
Lessons are a required part of being in Band for everyone in 9th and 10th grades, and group lessons are offered in school on a rotating basis to those students. (School lessons are not offered for students in 11th and 12th grades.) Students will miss 40 minutes of a particular class once approximately every 4 or 5 weeks for their scheduled lesson. Students are strongly encouraged to take private lessons, and if they do, they are not required to attend lessons in school. (9th graders who study privately are, however, required to take Playing Exams.) Lessons will factor into the Band grade and private study will also earn extra credit on the Band grade. Quarterly Reports must be filled out by private teachers and turned in to the Band Director for students to receive credit.
JAZZ ENSEMBLE
Students who are members of one (or more) of our major performing groups are eligible to audition for this advanced extra-curricular performing group. A commitment to regular Wednesday evening rehearsals plus the performance schedule is required. Participation in JAZZ ENSEMBLE earns extra credit on students' Band grades.
PEP BAND
Everyone is invited and encouraged to be in the PEP BAND, which plays for all home football games. It's a fun way for students to earn extra credit on their Band grades. There are no auditions, nor seating assignments.
