The Great Perhaps
By Sarah Cranfield
I must liberate myself
Of this depressing past
Follow my dreams into
The great perhaps
Start somewhere new
Be abstract
Leave my weary soul
Far distant from mind
I must abandon
Those I love
Although not many
Will miss me
Go somewhere foreign
Meet unfamiliar people
Who are unaware
Of who I am
I choke on my tears
As I wave goodbye
I watch the only two people
I love fade away
I take flight
Learn to smoke
I spiral down
I'm finally at peace
I fell in love
With a girl
She's so out of reach
But God, she's beautiful
She made me plenary
The second we kissed
But then she left me
Obscured by bliss
She left us forever
She ripped away
My convivial soul
Never to return
I have no feelings
I'm completely numb
I miss her monotonously
She's still beautiful
She killed herself
I must let her go
But Alaska will forever
Live inside my heart
I must liberate myself
Of this depressing past
Follow my dreams into
The great perhaps
